Beatrice's Favorite Meal; Bar None
Hello, Readers!
I want to share with you my absolute favorite meal; Chicken Parmesan. I've come up with a recipe for this dish that's a bit different then what I'm sure most of you are used to. Don't worry, it's just as good if not better :) Without further ado....
B's Recipe for
Chicken Parmesan
Ingredients:
1 boneless, skinless chicken breast cooked according to label
1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
1 serving of wheat/whole grain spaghetti noodles cooked according to package
1 cup spaghetti sauce of your choice
1 cup of cheerios
1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
1 teaspoon Oregano
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon Mrs. Dash Southwestern Chipotle
1 cup milk
1 egg
1/4 teaspoon turmeric
1 tablespoon canola oil
1 teaspoon butter
1/3 cup flour
Boil the chicken until it is cooked through or reaches 170 degrees Fahrenheit. Cut into strips. While the chicken is cooking, place the cheerios, Italian Seasoning, Oregano, salt, pepper, Mrs. Dash, turmeric, and 1/8 cup of the Parmesan into a food processor until powdered. Put the noodles on to cook while heating 1 tablespoon of canola oil with 1 teaspoon of butter in a fry pan. Put the powdered ingredients into a bag or container with the flour and mix well. Mix the milk and egg until smooth. Place each strip of chicken in the milk and egg mixture then into the powdered mixture. Once the oil and butter have heated in the fry pan take each chicken strip out of the powdered mixture and dip quickly into the milk mixture before placing them carefully into the heated oil. Fry each strip until golden or until you've reached your desired texture. Drain the noodles and put on a plate. Spread the spaghetti sauce in a circle over the top of the noodles. Sprinkle the remaining amount of Parmesan over the sauce and noodles. Lay each strip of chicken over the noodles. Allow to cool for a minute or two and enjoy!

Quills
Hello, Readers...
Here is an example of the Eagle Imitation feather quill pens I've been making. I love quills. I think they are a classic and a must for anyone who writes. This one is pretty and functional.

This is the one I made for myself. I love the color of orange, and well, you all know I love butterflies :)
If you'd like one of these for yourself you can find more theme options in my Etsy store :)

Scrabble
Hello, Readers...
I absolutely love to play scrabble. One day while browsing through a thrift store I found an unopened game and decided I'd use it for crafting. I ended up drilling the tiles to make stitch markers, earrings, and necklace pendants. The board itself I wanted to keep intact as much as possible though. As you all know, I love to write so I thought I'd turn the board into a journal. I had some old drafting paper I cut to fit the journal and then I drilled wholes through it with my husband's drill press. That probably wasn't the easiest route to go but I don't have my Bind-it-all machine yet. Once I had successfully drilled though all the pages and both board pieces I just hand sewed them all together and WA-la! Presto, a unique personal journal :)

The stitch markers, earrings, pendants, and necklaces are available in my Etsy store. If you'd like a custom set made with a specific letter please feel free to contact me via Etsy convo.

Broken Tools
So about a week ago I was in the middle of tearing up some old broken captain's chairs. My husband was cleaning out the basement and our little building outside and had them in his 'burn' pile. Yes, the chairs were broken beyond a simple repair, but I had a vision! The spindles in between the arm and seat were in perfect vintage shape and I immediately saw the body of a hat stand. Then I noticed the legs. If I cut the parts off that held the braces leaving only the hole less parts of the legs I could make handles to a homemade jump rope, what fun!?! My ideas didn't stop there, however. I also thought of using the smaller spindles for pegs to a birdhouse :)
The spindles make the perfect rest for birds on this barn wood bird house I'm making.
... all because my scroll saw blade was broken. Isn't it ironic? :)

Handmade Medicine Bag
Hello, Readers...
As you may know, I'm working on a historical romance book trilogy. I've been looking for Native American items for inspirations and have been lucky enough to find some really great 'muse' items. Some, however, I've made. These Native American inspired medicine bags can be purchase from my Etsy store. The bag itself is made from suede material and hand sewn together with waxed thread. I'm still looking for a reasonably priced leather retailer so I make more of a material variety of these.
I've also made imitation Eagle feather quill pens. I've always loved Native Americans and their crafting abilities. Especially their beaders; what talent they have!
